Business Improvement System (BIS)

Business Improvement System logoThe Business Improvement System was designed by DEC in 2005 in order to address the needs of small businesses in the areas of marketing, operations, personnel, finance etc.  The participants on the course work closely with an experienced small business advisor.  They carry out a SWOT analysis on the company and a summary report is compiled for discussion between the business owner and the BIS facilitator.

Following the review a Targeted Action Plan is carried out, this plan lays out the targets to measure the improvements in the business against.  These targets are agreed between the business owner and the BIS facilitator.

The business owner and the BIS facilitator meet once per month to review the past period and to plan ahead.  This meeting can also include key personnel and other advisors of the company.  There is also a BIS hotline available where the company owner may speak to the BIS facilitator at any time if an unforeseen problem arises.
